Muscles and tendons with anatomical variations are often a matter of concern to clinicians. Knowledge of variation cut short the chances of misdiagnosis. In present study we elaborated the anomalous muscle present over dorsum of hand. Most of the time this muscles goes undiagnosed as asymptomatic swelling, over the dorsum of wrist. In some patient this muscle variance may cause dorsal wrist pain. The incidence of muscle pain is more in individuals with sports, having repetitive movements of wrist joint. This muscle variance might confuse with pathological conditions like ganglion, soft tissue tumor, synovial cyst etc. In present study we present the comparative literature with muscle variance, its clinical significance and recent advances like tendon transfer.
